All Night Long
02:48
|
|||
Went down to the station looked down the road
My train ain’t here, slipped on the road
We left the country and moved to town
That’s when my baby started running round
If I’d a listened to what mama said
I could be sleeping In my mama’s bed
You may be young and foolish too
But I left my home On account of you
I’d rather be dead and in my grave
Stay in this town Treated this way
I ain’t got no money I ain’t got no beer
Ain’t got no woman To be bothered with
Well all night long All night long All night long All night long

Happiness
02:07
|
|||
Is this seat taken?
What’s she going to say?
Does she want me to sit there,
or should I go away?
So I pass by
Pretend along the wa
I don’t need to meet a pretty girl
Anymore, anyway
Come over sit down
And share a round with me
Cause happiness is closer
So much closer than we think
Have no shame
in how you pass your day
Believe in your decisions
And sadness will melt away
I wake up
I’m in love with you
By the end of the day
I’m not sure of that
And each time I think of you
I laugh, and I cry
Cause I’ve died
And gone to heaven
Don’t tell me what you think
Tell me what I want to hear
Cause happiness is closer
So much closer than we fear
Let me believe what I need to
help fight sadness away
Just give me validation
right or wrong, well I don’t care
Whether I’m right or wrong
I just don’t care

Grey Eyes
02:50
|

Those Grey Eyes that trap me where I stand
I believe they’ll be there at the end
Of this long road that I travel down
I’ll meet you back in Tinsel Town
That fateful porch where we first met
I threw away all my regrets
Eyes like a rocket, and I
Can’t get my mind around it
Don’t really matter cause I
Just know how it feels
To be me
You ask me why I stick around
It’s so hard to nail that answer down
When this morning’s kiss you gave to me
Was a different kiss than yesterday
Truth is that it all adds up to
Fifty different shades of you
Eyes like a rocket, and I
Can’t get my mind around it
Don’t really matter cause I
Just know how it feels
To be me
So let’s break bread and make good on our vows
To lie with you I’d wear that golden crown
The future I’ve already seen
Will turn a sweet reality
Hoping that I’ll know one day
A thousand different shades of you
Eyes like a rocket, and I
Can’t get my mind around it
Don’t really matter cause I
Just know how it feels

Mighty Loving Ways

Days are coming
I'm such a mess
Nights spent wide awake
trying to decompress
and I need you
to rub my back
I've been thinking
about all this disease
can we handle it
will it bring us to our knees
I need you to take me home tonight
carry me up the stairs
only you can keep me safe tonight
safe against your breast
and I need you
to rub my back

My dog breaks through the ice just to take a swim
And to feel that cold water rush in
I used to try to hold her back
But there ain’t no stopping something strong as that
And this train keeps rolling
We know exactly where it’s going
And there ain’t no turning the wheel
When you’re riding on these tracks of steel
Even Superman has his Kryptonite
Tomatoes die in the frost at night
You take my hand and we walk these hills
And I can’t but help feel invincible
And this train keeps rolling
We know exactly where it’s going
And there ain’t no turning the wheel
When you’re riding on these tracks of steel
Will you remember me when this life you’ve left
And if you can even after that
All I want when I pass on
Is the memory of you wrapped in my arms
And this train keeps rolling
We know exactly where it’s going
And there ain’t no turning the wheel
When you’re riding on these tracks of steel

Ah, Summer Days & Nights
00:31
|
|||
"I was just reminiscing about Summer days and nights and remembered how there's an older dude, probably in his 80's, who walks up and down the street every single day. It probably keeps him alive. Occasionally he falls over (he is short, low to the ground and doesn't seem to get hurt) and rolls around in the street like a Kafka beetle, squawking until a friendly neighbor rights him and he's on his way. I see him daily and this spectacle occurs once a week, so I think it might be a technique to pick up older ladies, in reality. Ahh Summer days and nights!"

Hole In My Bed
03:52
|
|||
Did you ever think that, we’d make it together
When we planted the garden, or talked about kids
Did you ever know that, you gave me such power
Did it feel good to know, I loved only you
Can you blame me for trying, to keep you around
So sure you would stay, but you were already gone
If you weren’t alone, I wouldn’t have to forgive you
But you were alone, and now we’re apart
Do you ever think that, you’ll find yourself
With me on your mind, or with me in your bed
Do you ever think that, you will love again
One millionth as much, as I want you back
Hole in my bed, from the weight of my lover
Hole in my bed, is all that is left
It used to be warm, back when I held here
Now there’s a hoooooole in my heart

Taking My Time
04:20
|
|||
I get it all right
Keep getting so close but I’m never quite on
Cause I’m feeling all right
I know you can hear me but you just don’t care
Cause I’m feeling alright
You’re really not listening cause you’re selfish like me
And I’m doing alright
Just seems harder than it used to be
I’m just taking my time
To feel better
Taking my time
To feel good
It’s all roses and petals
I get it alright
Dragon in my head like a shitornado
And I’m feeling alright
Watch the soft porn down at the bar round noon
And I’m doing alright
If see my girl, would you please tell her
That I’m doing alright
It’s gonna be alright
Sometimes it feels good to just fall down
Have a nice time and not hurt anyone
We can (burn the place down, make good music, get real hight, close the bapskin), have a little fun
And we’ll come to each other from a place of love
We can spend some time away
Spend some time together
I’m just taking my time, To feel better
Taking some time, To feel good
And I get it alright
I’m feeling alright
I’m doing alright
It’s gonna be alright
Just taking my time, to feel better
Taking some time, to feel good
And It’s taking some time, to feel better
I’m taking my time, to feel good

Come On Back
03:28
|
|||
I’m getting higher
Than I’ve ever been
In an airplane
In the sky
I’m going back to
A place that I’ve been
But haven’t returned to
For quite a while
I made a promise
To get back to
The things that
Maaaatter in life
No more complaining
No more addiction
A little more love
A little more life
So come on back to
My home and visit
Come and back
We’ll all play along
Come on back to
The one who loves you
And we’ll live
Forever young
And when I get there
Please be waiting
promise you won’t look
In my eyes
Want you to tell me
It’ll all be better
Want you to tell me
Sweet little lies
When things get quiet
My head travels
Thoughts of life
And where it goes from here
Will we slowly break down
Or will something kill us
Everybody build to chorus
Cause I’m not ready
To go underground
So come on back to
My home and visit
Come and back
We’ll all play along
Come on back to
The one who loves you
And we’ll live
Forever young

Come Back Home
Back where you belong
Come Back Home
You been gone too long
One day you'll wake up to some sweet loneliness
and can't figure out what it is
must be someone or something familiar
no it's bigger than just me or you
find a place where it just feels familiar
that'll put a smile on my face
it's like the pull of a machine, the salmon to a spawn
it's the only thing/k left in my brain.
Come Back Home
You been gone so long
Come Back Home
You been gone too long
Come Back Home
Back where you belong
Come Back Home

Green Monroe Ann Arbor, Michigan
Green Monroe is Michael Spaly's solo / experimental recording project. He had a dream where he was back in 3rd grade. Everybody started whispering excitedly about a band that was coming to town. The band's name was "Green Monroe". Since he was not allowed to name his child after another dream-inspired name, he settled for naming his band after that nocturnal muse. ... more
